The City of Brighton is the Home Rule Municipality in Adams and Weld counties that is the county seat of Adams County, Colorado, United States. The United States Census Bureau estimates that the city population was 35,719 in 2013.
Brighton is located at 39°58′27″N 104°48′36″W (39.974184, -104.809926). It is often considered a suburb of Denver. According to the United States Census Bureau, the city has a total area of 17.1 square miles (44 km²), of which 17.1 square miles (44 km²) is land and 0.1 square miles (0.26 km²) (0.29%) is water.
As of the census of 2000, there were 20,905 people, 6,718 households, and 5,058 families residing in the city. The population density was 1,224.1 people per square mile (472.6/km²). There were 6,990 housing units at an average density of 409.3 per square mile (158.0/km²).
